Rainy Day
BY ADDY NEWCOMER and RUSTY NEWCOMER
11/23/95 - 01/23/2018
WHY DOES THE SUN RISE SO EARLY IN THE MORN
IT'S BEEN DOING IT DAILY EVER SINCE I WAS BORN
THAT'S WHY I LOVE YOU FROM DAWN TO DUSK
WHY I DON'T KNOW, MY HEART I MUST TRUST
I REALLY DON'T KNOW THE HOW AND THE WHY
BUT THE BIRDS TAKE TO WING AND FLY IN THE SKY
WHERE THE CLOUDS DRIFT SILENTLY INTO THE BLUE
LIKE MY THOUGHTS AND MY DREAMS OF LOVING YOU
I feel the wetness of the raindrops running down my face
You held my hand we ran for cover to this lonesome place
We lie down upon the ground sheltered from the storm
Wrapped in arms oh so tight we never felt so warm
WHY THEN HOW IS IT I JUST DON'T KNOW
WHY WHEN IT RAINS THE WINDS ALWAYS BLOW
SCATTERING MY THOUGHTS AND MY FEELINGS IT SEEMS
AND YOU WILL ALWAYS BE THE STAR OF MY DREAMS
YOU ALWAYS RELIGHT THE FIRE IN MY HEART
SO WE CAN BE TOGETHER AND NEVER APART
YOU'RE MY FIRST TRUE LOVE FROM THE TIME WE MET
THERE'll BE MANY MORE TIMES WE'll NEVER FORGET

Description |
Short Song Description: Two lovers getting caught in the rain |
Long Song Description: This song is a mixture of my mom's thoughts and mine. My mom wrote a lot of poetry and I write music for them. Some of the poetry we write together. This one we wrote together. |
Story Behind the Song: This was a collaboration between my mom and I. I dedicate this song to my wife because it reminds us of our honeymoon. I wanted my wife to sing this because she is a great singer and I am not. She could make it sound so much better. But she wanted me to do it, so I did. |
