TOMORROW'S CHILDREN

BY RUSTY NEWCOMER AND STEVE GROSS
3/12/77

TILL THE TIME COMES ALONG
WE COULD BE DEAD AND GONE
THEN NO ONE WE KNOW WOULD BE LURKING
WHEN THE DAY COMES ABOUT
WE COULD SCREAM AND SHOUT
BUT NO ONE WOULD CARE WHAT WE'RE SAYING

JUST TELL THEM WE'LL LISTEN TO THEIR PROBLEMS WHEN THEY SAY
WHY DID YOU LET IT GET THIS WAY?
THEY'RE THE CHILDREN THAT WE PASSED RIGHT THROUGH OUR DOORS
THEIR SITUATION COULDN'T GET WORSE NO MORE

WHY SHOULD PEOPLE WAIT?
TOMORROW'S FAR TOO LATE
WHEN YOUNG ARE THE CHILDREN OF TOMORROW
THE TIME'S NOT YET LOST
TO CONTINUE WHAT'S THE COST?
WHY INCREASE THE VALUE OF YOUR SORROW?

JUST TELL THEM WE'LL LISTEN TO THEIR PROBLEMS WHEN THEY SAY
WHY DID YOU LET IT GET THIS WAY?
THEY'RE THE CHILDREN THAT WE PASSED RIGHT THROUGH OUR DOORS
THEIR SITUATION COULDN'T GET WORSE NO MORE

(HARMONICA)
Description
Short Song Description:
A song about the kind of world we are handing to our children.
Long Song Description:
As we destroy our planet, give up our rights, become polarized in a non compromising society, over populate an already over stressed ecological system, what kind of future can we expect for our children?
Story Behind the Song:
A song Steve Gross and I wrote back in the seventies. I wrote the music and Steve and I wrote the lyrics. We wrote it as a folk song but Spark and I decided to experiment with it and came up with this.
